About ArtStart

Founded in 1988, ArtStart is a private nonprofit organization located in St. Paul, MN. It is led by Executive Director, Carol Sirrine, and supported by a team of 3 part-time employees. ArtStart is comprised of two core areas: arts education and arts material sales. Arts education is provided by over 30 contracted professional artists who teach children and adults throughout the St. Paul and Minneapolis metro areas. Art education occurs through school residencies, workshops, summer and holiday camps, and online learning. Additionally, a partnership with the Minnesota Valley National Wildlife Refuge includes additional programming: ArtStart’s annual EcoArts festival, an art installation at the Bloomington Education and Visitor Center, and teacher workshops. Arts materials are sold at the ArtScraps Reuse Center in St. Paul. Donations of recycled material and art supplies are repurposed for arts activities and available for purchase.
