A Beading Bonanza
Calling all crafters who love to use beads in their art work or jewelry creations. Based on the response last year to our beads and findings sale, ArtStart is making A Beading Bonanza an annual event and expanding it to 2 weeks! Designed to spark creativity and unlock that artist within, ArtStart’s Creativity Kits are filled with both new art materials and fun, creative materials from ArtScraps to create the project. Directions on how to make the project are also provided. Some kits come with a book that inspires the art activity. Each kit arrives in a specially designed gift box. Studio A Classes for YOUTH
Clay Holiday Ornaments
AGES 5 YEARS AND ABOVE
Create a myriad of holiday ornaments from clay to give as a gift or to decorate your home for the holidays. Work with master potter Lisa Himmelstrup to design and make your clay ornaments. Then paint them with glazes. Once the ornaments are dry, they are fired by Lisa in her kiln where the glazes turn to bright colors. After firing, your work is ready for pick up at ArtStart (or we can ship to you for a small fee, if outside the Twin Cities). A great activity to ring in the holiday season! This class is for local residents only.

The holidays are a magical season. What better time to work as a family with artist Gustavo Boada to create one of the most magical of places there is, Hogwart’s Castle, the site of so many of Harry Potter’s adventures. With ready access to all sorts of creative materials at ArtStart’s ArtScraps –tubes, cones, cups, and mylar – just add a special spell, “Decorateum Glueioso” and create a magnificent holiday castle!

Peace Dove Candle Holder
AGES 6-12 YEARS
Get ready to welcome in New Year 2023 with artist
Laurie Witzkowski as you create a peace dove candle holder. Using bakeable polymer clay, let your imagination take flight as you sculpt a peace dove with a holder for a candle. Then paint your peace dove candle holder with colorful patterns inspired by the candlabras of Mexico using acrylic paint pens. After baking the painted clay in the oven at 275 degrees, you are ready to add the candle and send your hopes for peace into the world on beams of light.

Kumihimo Beading
Kumihimo is the ancient art of Japanese cord braiding. Work with artist Julie Boada to learn the basics of braiding using beads and create a beautiful beaded bracelet. Work outside of class will be required in order to finish the project. No experience necessary.

Illuminating the Way: Luminaria
The tradition of luminarias comes from Mexico. Using recycled glass, Modge Podge and more work with artist Jeanette Dickinson to collage and stencil your own lovely luminaria. Then add a light source and illuminate a special walkway or centerpiece. All materials provided which can be picked up at ArtScraps of mailed for a small fee.

Celebrate the Winter Solstice!
When nature is experienced fully with all our senses engaged, we develop a kind of rhythm with the natural world that leads to a sense of well-being. Join naturalist Judy Geck for a two-hour experience that will help bring you into the present moment, de-stress and relax as you enjoy the serenity of Winter.
